My town is so old and broken
Because she was astrayed to abuse
Fear and violence is our token
Our forefathers, our excuse
We thrash her with our actions
We pierce her with our words
Our joy through meaningless infractions
Our youth, tarnished and cursed
We consume the poison of drugs
We relish in daily battles
Why must we turn into thugs?
Why must we succumb like a cattle?
We cannot see the depths of her wounds
How she weeps and wishes
For her children to turn away from this doom
And to be clear of all the blemishes
And yet, I see the real beauty
In the eyes of our innocent
The earth we protect, our duty
Our hearts so big, it's benevolent
We greet each other with a beer
And connect through different urbanites
Our perception so deep and sincere
Because we are one community
And so my town waits and watches
She sees past all the greed and pain
Hoping we'll clear from all the blotches
Because in the end,
Her love will not be in vain
